Description
The ViPrimePLUS Francisella tularensis qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Francisella tularensis genomes in clinical samples (e.g. lesion exudates, respiratory secretions, cerebrospinal fluid, blood and tissues).
Francisella tularensis is a Gram negative Coccobacillus, which causes tularemia, a zoonotic disease endemic in the northern hemisphere. It is highly virulent in human and rabbits. There are two types of subspecies identified, i.e. type A (subspecies tularensis) that is highly virulent and limited to North America, and type B (subspecies holarctica) which is less virulent and found in Europe and Eurasia. The mode of transmission is via arthropods vector or airborne. Symptoms may vary depending on the mode of transmission. From insect bites, signs such as ulcers at the bite site, fever, chills, headaches and fatigue may be observed. Infection via inhalation may develop fever, weight loss and pneumonia.
ViPrimePLUS Francisella tularensis qPCR Kit is intended for research use only.
